The Ultimate Hamburger

Rich and I have a new favorite burger to make at home. We got the idea from Six Sisters' Stuff but made a few modifications because we found their recipe made the meat too soggy to handle and stay together on the grill.

We made this for Rich's birthday party and it was a big hit! After the second time we made it, Rich tried out a recipe from Alton Brown called "The Ultimate Burger" but it was definitely inferior.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 c Monterrey jack cheese (we've also used just Cheddar or Mexican blends and it's delicious)
1/4 c BBQ sauce (we've been used KC Honey BBQ sauce)
Cracked black pepper to taste
Onion Powder to taste
Garlic to taste

Directions:
Combine the ground beef, grated cheese, bbq sauce, and seasonings. Shape patties that are about 1 inch think.
Hand them over to your favorite griller

Ok that's HOW I make them... here are the grill instructions from the original recipe:

Turn the grill up to high and let it get hot.
Reduce heat to medium-high and place the burgers on the grill. Allow this side of the patty to cook for about 4-6 minutes, but make sure it doesn't burn. Then flip the burger over and cook until done.

We like to eat these on homemade Portuguese sweet rolls although regular hamburger buns are good too.
